[edit] Overview
[edit] Mission
To provide computer networking solutions to the Olancho Aid! Organization inJuticalpa, Honduras to create a sustainable, manageable, and scalable computer network of over 75 computers. Olancho Aid! is a Catholic organization serving 3 schools: a special needs school, an elementary/middle school, and a high school.
[edit] History
In August of 2008, Olancho Aid! sent out a nation wide posting asking for help to improve the efficiency of their network before the Fall 2008 school year. James McBryan from EWB-OC flew down to Honduras for a 3 week stint to analyze and improve their network. After examining the network, James installed a Tomato open source router to help manage the 256 kbps internet connection that was shared amongst a large number of computers. Unfortunately the network was far from scalable and manageable when James left Honduras and so he plans to form a team of computer engineers in Orange County to return to improve their network.
