In August 2009, Olancho Aid sent out a distress call looking for some volunteer in America to help fix their computer network before the school year started. James McBryan, a computer programmer from Orange County and a member of EWB-OC, flew out there on his own expense to fix the network and determine if Olancho Aid could take advantage of the resources from an organization like EWB.

During this discovery trip, James:

  • fixed broken computers
  • wirelessly networked a computer lab
  • installed a Tomato router for network management
  • educated the organization on how to use applications
  • extended the network with new antenna installations

James determined that EWB-OC could help Olancho Aid and then started a project in September of 2009. Please read the report below for more details.
